Sanitation and Literacy Ghana (SALG) is proud to announce the commissioning of a new ultra-modern library in Ampatia, a town in the Ashanti Region. This milestone marks yet another step forward in our mission to improve literacy and access to quality education in Ghana.
The newly established library is equipped with a vast collection of books, covering a broad spectrum of educational levels—from preschool (Kreche) to PhD. This ensures that learners of all ages, from young children taking their first steps in education to advanced scholars, have access to valuable reading and research materials. Beyond serving the over 800 students in the local school, the library is open to the entire community and neighboring towns of over 30,000+ population, creating a vibrant hub for learning, collaboration, and intellectual growth.
In addition to its extensive book collection, the facility features a fully equipped ICT section with six Chromebook laptops, providing students and community members with opportunities to develop digital literacy skills. This is a significant step toward bridging the digital divide and preparing learners for an increasingly technology-driven world. The only remaining enhancement needed is the installation of a reliable Wi-Fi connection to maximize the potential of the ICT section and provide seamless access to online resources.
SALG went the extra mile to repaint the school’s pripary block walls due to it’s faded state prior to the commissioning of the Library.
