We are excited to announce that we have built a new toilet facility for Opoku Ware Senior Secondary School in Kumasi, Ghana! This project was made possible by our generous donors, who helped us raise the necessary funds.
Materials used (approximates)
- Cement blocks: 250
- 5kg cement: 20
- Sand: 10 cubic meters
- Gravel: 5 cubic meters
- Doors: 4
- Other Materials: Roofing sheet, floor tiles, water closet, sink pavilion, plumbing fixtures, electrical fixtures, painting, labour.
The school with a population of approximately 4000, is located at Santase, a sub-urban area in the Kumasi Metropolitan. The students previously had to use outdoor toilets. These toilets were often unsanitary and posed a health risk to the students.
The new bio-digester toilet facility has four toilets. It is also equipped with a hand-washing station. The facility is located near the school’s classrooms, so the students no longer have to walk long distances to use the toilet.
We are grateful to our donors for making this project possible. We believe that this new toilet facility will make a significant difference in the lives of the students at this school.
